The New York Jets offense struggled Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, but the lone bright spot was Jamison Crowder’s 115 receiving yards and a touchdown, hauling in seven passes of his whopping 13 targets.
With news Crowder will miss the Jets’ Week 2 contest against the San Francisco 49ers, it opens the door for players like Breshad Perriman, Chris Hogan, and Braxton Berrios to take the targets that would have initially been allocated to Crowder. But with no clear #1 option out of the group, and a tough matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, it’s likely best to avoid this trio on Sunday.
Fantasy Football analysis: Jets WRs Breshad Perriman, Chris Hogan, Braxton Berrios
While Crowder led the Jets with 13 targets last week, it was tight end Chris Herndon who saw the second-most targets with 7. It is actually Herndon, moreso than Perriman, Hogan, or Berrios, that will likely benefit the most from Crowder’s absence.
The Jets won’t have it easy next week, facing a San Francisco defense that will be out cornerback Richard Sherman for the foreseeable future. Still, against the Arizona Cardinals last week, the 49ers were able to hold the Cardinals’ receiving corps to 18 catches for 185 yards, with 14 receptions and 151 yards coming from DeAndre Hopkins alone. While the 49ers will be out Sherman, the Jets don’t have any wide receiver close to the caliber of Hopkins, so we could see another week of struggles from Sam Darnold and the New York Jets’ passing attack.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Perriman as a flex in deep leagues if you’re desperate. Sit Hogan and Berrios.
