How to handle Courtland Sutton injury in Week 2 fantasy football

Looks like we’ll have to wait until Sunday to know if the Broncos will have Sutton in the lineup.

Game status update: Sutton is ACTIVE for Week 2, per multiple reports.

Game day morning update: Courtland Sutton “has a good chance to play today,” according to Ian Rapoport. He will work out in pregame to make sure the AC joint sprain in his shoulder has healed enough. Inactives are due by 11:30 a.m. for this game.

The Denver Broncos might have wide receiver Courtland Sutton in the lineup this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but we won’t know that, most likely, until 90 minutes before the 1pm ET kickoff. Sutton is still dealing with a shoulder injury that kept him out of action last week. He did practice this week, in a limited role, which is at least somewhat hopeful.

Fantasy impact: Courtland Sutton injury

The Broncos are going to need their pass attack against the Steelers, who are favored by five points. Quarterback Drew Lock was only able to throw for 216 yards and a single touchdown in last week’s loss to the Titans. Denver is expected to have slot receiver KJ Hamler back for this game, but it looks like he’ll still be somewhat limited in how much he can play. That puts rookie Jerry Jeudy front and center is Sutton can’t play. The Broncos’ first-round pick caught four passes on eight targets last week for 56 yards. His eight targets were a team high.

Tight end Noah Fant has benefitted the most with the receiver corps hurting. He caught six of five passes last week for 81 yards and a touchdown, and he’ll once again be a good start, especially if Sutton doesn’t play.

Game-time decisions are tough for fantasy owners, but unless you have other options, Sutton could be worth waiting on. Plus, since it’s an early kickoff, you could wait til the last minute and not impact your other lineup decisions.
