It’s not at all an exaggeration to say that the Patriots looked like a much different team with Cam Newton at quarterback, and if we’re really being honest here, they were much more fun to watch than they have been in a long, long time. Newton’s debut with New England also made it clear that he’s a viable fantasy option again.
Fantasy Football analysis: Patriots QB Cam Newton
With a game plan designed around Newton’s ability to run, the Patriots had plenty of options in the mix, and the quarterback finished the day with 15 runs with 75 yards on the ground and two rushing touchdowns. His arm looked great too. He completed 15 of 19 passes for 155 yards, with plenty of arm strength.
But that was against the Dolphins. Things should be a little tougher on Sunday night against the Seahawks. Newton’s thrown five touchdowns and four picks, with a meager 58 percent completion percentage in six career games against Seattle. However, he’s not playing for the Panthers anymore, and this isn’t the old Legion of Boom Seahawks defense.
Atlanta had no problems throwing the ball against Seattle last week; Matt Ryan finished the game with 450 passing yards, and given how prolific the Seahawks offense looked in that game, the Patriots may be forced to throw the ball more than they did last week. Also enticing for this one is the fact that Seattle allowed the fourth most rushing yards to quarterbacks last year.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Cam Newton.
