The Seattle Seahawks have two running backs in the mix for work to start the season. Chris Carson, coming off a 1,230-yard campaign in 2019, sits atop the depth chart, but offseason hip surgery made it look as though he’d be eased back into the mix. Carlos Hyde, an offseason addition, is there vying for touches too. So which one is worth a spot in your starting lineup this week?
Fantasy Football analysis: Seahawks RBs Chris Carson, Carlos Hyde
The Seahawks didn’t do much running last week against the Falcons, relying instead on Russell Wilson and the passing game, something they haven’t historically done until the fourth quarter. That certainly worked in Chris Carson’s favor. He caught six passes for 45 yards and two touchdowns, while carrying the ball just six times for 21 yards. Hyde actually had one more touch in the ground game, running for 23 yards, but didn’t see any targets from the quarterback.
Carson is still on tap to be the main man in the running game. His light workload last week probably says more about the team’s easing him back into the fray after surgery. Hyde isn’t especially relevant. He’ll spell Carson some, but there’s no reliable indication he’s got much role to play beyond that, unless Carson gets hurt.
Both have a tough matchup this week. And while the Seahawks will probably have to switch up the game plan more this week, the ceiling for Carson looks pretty low against the Patriots.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Sit Carson and Hyde.
