The Panthers travel to Tampa Bay for a divisional matchup against the Buccaneers. Carolina is a big underdog, not unlike quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, a guy you just can’t help but root for. Feel-good stories aside, you probably don’t want him in your fantasy lineups this week.
Fantasy Football analysis: Panthers QB Teddy Bridgewater
Bridgewater had a decent debut with the Panthers in Week 1. He completed 22 of 34 passes for 269 yards and one touchdown. That touchdown was a highlight reel 75-shot to Robby Anderson. There’s been some cautious enthusiasm coming out of that game that Bridgewater might be more willing to take a few more downfield throws this season, and while he might have to in a game where the Bucs are favored by more than a touchdown, that’s a risky bet to make with your fantasy lineups this week.
What everyone missed while discussing Tom Brady’s all-too-human debut with the Bucs was Tampa Bay’s secondary making life really hard for the Saints in Week 1. That’s going to be an even bigger problem for the Panthers. Sure, Bridgewater may have to air it out more to keep up in this one, that also sets up a high-risk situation. I would avoid him this week.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Sit Teddy Bridgewater.
