What to do with David Montgomery, Tarik Cohen in Week 2 fantasy football

Chicago’s rushing attack performed well with their touches, though neither were able to reach the end zone. What will we see in Week 2?

David Montgomery played through a groin injury in the Chicago Bears’ debut but still managed a productive performance yardage-wise in a 27-23 victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Tarik Cohen figured to see the ball more with Montgomery’s injury, but he put together a solid day considering his limited touches.

Fantasy Football analysis: Bears RBs David Montgomery, Tarik Cohen

Montgomery rushed for 64 yards on 13 carries and caught one ball for 10 yards. Cohen gained 41 yards on seven rush attempts and was limited in the passing game to two catches for six yards.

Chicago’s running backs are a bit difficult to trust on a week to week basis. Cohen is going to have more upside with his ability to catch passes out of the backfield and speed, but it’s hard to predict when his breakaway plays happen.

The Bears’ rushing attack will match up with the New York Giants on Sunday. New York allowed Benny Snell to gain 113 yards on 19 carries filling in for James Conner, who left the game early with an injury.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Montgomery should be valued slightly ahead of Cohen. Both can be looked at as third running backs in standard leagues.
