What to do with Ronald Jones, Leonard Fournette in Week 2 fantasy football

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will get a much better matchup in Week 2 with Carolina. Does that make their running backs worthy of a start?

It still doesn’t feel normal seeing Tom Brady in a Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey. With that reality, high expectations have suddenly hit Tompa Bay. Two top-ten receivers mixed with a legendary quarterback along with two elite tight ends makes for a high-powered offense. The running game can benefit from the skilled players at other positions. With Ronald Jones the starting running back, the Bucs added Leonard Fournette and LeSean McCoy this offseason. With three Bucs in the mix and a lacking performance in Week 1, is there any hope for a single back in fantasy football in Week 2?

Fantasy Football analysis: Bucs RBs Ronald Jones, Leonard Fournette

This could be a one-sided matchup. The Bucs are a much better team than the Panthers. A divisional matchup, the Bucs will be looking to showcase a dynamic offense, one that stalled far too often in Week 1.

As for their running game, Ronald Jones received 17 carries in Week 1. Jones also got three targets in as well. The only knock to his game was that he was in on under 50 percent of the offensive snaps. Despite not being in often, Jones was clearly the lead back out-touching Fournette by 13.

As for Fournette, he had 19 all-purpose yards. Fournette, who was in on just nine snaps, had six touches. It’s tough to tell if Fournette would get more snaps, but all indications are that it’ll be a committee once again. It frankly may not matter as the Panthers gave up three rushing touchdowns and almost 100 yards to Josh Jacobs last week. The Raiders had 133 rushing yards.

That said, until we see more snaps for Fournette, it’s still time to wait on see for him. For Jones, fire away — he should be in almost every lineup.
