The Los Angeles Chargers squeaked by the Cincinnati Bengals with a 16-13 win in Week 1, and Mike Williams was one of the more impressive wideouts in the matchup. The 6’4” receiver could be an important player for the Chargers in their Week 2 battle against the Kansas City Chiefs. We’ll go over his fantasy football upside here.
Fantasy Football analysis: Chargers WR Mike Williams
Williams accrued nine targets in Week 1, which was a team high. He converted his opportunities into four receptions for 69 yards. Only Hunter Henry had more receptions (5) and receiving yards (63). Keenan Allen didn’t produce at a high level with four receptions for 37 yards on eight targets, but is the most dangerous weapon among Chargers receivers. It’s likely that he’ll be more of a factor in Week 2, and that could take some attention away from Williams.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
I’d sit Williams in Week 2. He depends on making circus catches too much, and I’m not sure Tyrod Taylor can continue to stretch the field and squeeze the ball into tight windows. The Chiefs are much better at getting after the quarterback than the Bengals, so Taylor could have to get rid of the ball earlier.
