The Indianapolis Colts had a confusing three-headed running back situation to start the season. But with veteran Marlon Mack now out of action and on injured reserve, it’s down to two players — Nyheim Hines and Jonathan Taylor. So, which one should be on your radar for fantasy purposes?
Fantasy Football analysis: Colts RBs Nyheim Hines, Jonathan Taylor
Turns out, both players will be pretty important to the Colts offense and fantasy football going forward. In Week 1, Taylor finished the day with just 22 yards on nine carries, tacking on six catches for 67 yards. Hines had just one carry and eight catches, for a total of 73 yards from scrimmage, and a pair of touchdowns.
Head coach Frank Reich said that Taylor would be the starting running back with Mack on the shelf. He ended up splitting snaps evenly with Hines after Mack left the game last week, but what’s more notable was Hines’ work in the red zone. Both players are going to see plenty of work, with Taylor getting more carries and Hines getting more passes thrown his way.
Hines has been the more popular of the two when it comes to waiver wire suggestions this week because of his scoring potential. Still, both deserve your attention as viable flex plays or even to slot in a second running back against a Vikings defense that couldn’t stop much of anything last week.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Hines and Taylor.
