The Los Angeles Rams opened up their season and their brand-new stadium by bringing in America’s team, Dallas Cowboys, for Sunday Night Football. After losing Brandin Cooks this offseason, the Rams were left with Tyler Higbee, Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp as the main options for quarterback Jared Goff. They also added second-round draft pick Cam Akers to the offense.

They defeated the Cowboys, who were without their best linebacker for most of the game, 20-17. It wasn’t thanks to fifth-year quarterback Goff though who is coming off throwing a league-high 626 attempts in 2019. Goff was held out of the end zone and was just 20-for-31 in the team’s Week 1 victory. Can he improve against a tougher Eagles defense in Week 2?

Fantasy Football analysis: Rams QB Jared Goff

The Eagles present a tough matchup for the Rams. They’ll lock up at least one edge with the recently-added Darius Slay. One of the best cornerbacks in the league, he will likely shadow Cooper Kupp or Robert Woods. Either way, it’s not an ideal situation for Goff who completed ten of his 20 completions to the dynamic duo.

As for Philadelphia in Week 1, they took on the Washington Football Team. The Eagles allowed 27 unanswered points after quickly starting the game up 17-0. Second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins had just one touchdown. As for Goff, he didn’t look impressive as the team leaned on its run game heavily, handing out 40 carries to a plethora of running backs.

Goff will be taking on a more challenging secondary after struggling to get consistent movement against the Cowboys. That said, the one silver lining to his Week 1 matchup is that when the Rams did reach the end zone, it was Goff who drove them 75 or more yards both times. The talent is still there but, after Week 1, he’ll only be worth a start in two-QB leagues.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Sit Jared Goff.
