This Saturday Jessica-Rose Clark and Sarah Alpar will serve as a preliminary card women’s bantamweight bout on UFC Vegas 11, an event that will be live at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and on ESPN+.
Jessica-Rose “Jessy Jess” Clark, who oftentimes strolls into the octagon with very colorful hair, will enter with a 9-6 record. Five of those victories have come from decisions while all six of her losses have come via submission. That’s partially because her 60 percent striking defense rate. She may absorb 4.73 per minute, but she’s good at deflecting them. Clark is also a competent striker, tossing 4.53 significant strikes per minutes with 47 percent accuracy.
Clark’s opponent, Sarah “Too Sweet” Alpar, will compete in her first bout of the year and on the UFC main roster. Something to note about Alpar is that she’s fought just once annually over the past four years, and this will be her first fight of 2020. The southpaw-stance fighter does her best work on the ground, converting 66 percent of her 3.79 takedowns per 15 minutes.
Those takedowns haven’t necessarily translated to wins though as she has just two submissions in 13 bouts, but is 9-4 in her MMA career.
Last week we were graced with Sijara Eubanks and Julia Avila as the women’s bantamweight bout, a fight that Eubanks was able to have her arm raised on. This week, we’ll get to see two up-and-coming fighters in Clark and Alpar take the stage.
