One of the most thrilling preliminary fights of UFC Vegas 11 should be at flyweight when #13 Jordan Espinosa enters the octagon with #14 David Dvorak live this Saturday at Las Vegas’ UFC Apex and on ESPN+.
The 15-7 Espinosa will enter the fight having defeated Mark De La Rosa about two months ago. Prior to that bout, Espinosa dropped a match to #4 Alex Perez. In mid-to-late 2019 he also lost to #9 Matt Schnell, and his style may have a bit to do with his difficulties with more skilled opponents.
Espinosa, 30, is an aggressive striker, landing 5.49 blows per minute. He lands 60 percent of those while also defending 60 percent of the 2.84 he takes per minute. What’s really impressive about Espinosa is he’s terrific when defending takedowns, stopping 88 percent of his opponent’s attempts.
For Dvorak, who is coming into the fight with a 18-3 record, he likely won’t give Espinosa the chance to defend those as he isn’t a huge grappler either. He’s won the majority of his fights via knockout. He hasn’t lost a fight since 2012, but most of his matches have been either XFN or GCF fights. He’s also more aggressive than most, landing 50 percent of his 4.47 strikes per minutes.
These two enter the cage as a coin flip on Saturday night.
