The Tampa Bay Lightning and Dallas Stars will play for the biggest prize in hockey in the 2020 Stanley Cup Final.

The Lightning entered the playoffs as the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference, while the Stars were the #3 team in the Western Conference. Here’s how both teams got to the Final:

Eastern Conference Quarterfinals: Tampa Bay Lightning over Columbus Blue Jackets in five games.
Eastern Conference Semifinals: Tampa Bay Lightning over Boston Bruins in five games.
Eastern Conference Finals: Tampa Bay Lightning over New York Islanders in six games.

Western Conference Quarterfinals: Dallas Stars over Calgary Flames in six games.
Western Conference Semifinals: Dallas Stars over Colorado Avalanche in seven games.
Western Conference Finals: Dallas Stars over Vegas Golden Knights in five games.

Because of having the better record in the regular season, the Lightning (92 points in 70 games) will have “home ice” advantage over the Stars (82 points in 69 games). It means the Bolts will be able to make the last substitution before faceoffs in Games 1, 2, 5, and 7. They’ll also have the in-house arena atmosphere in their favor, so the fans cheering on the oversized video screens in the arena via Zoom will be wearing blue in those games.
