How the race order will be set for Friday’s Xfinity Series race at Bristol

The NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Food City 300 is set for Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway. The race is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. ET and will air on NBCS. We’ll go over the betting favorites to win and the starting grid here.

The starting grid has been determined by random draws that take team owner points into account since the restart, but NASCAR has changed how qualifying works in the three national series (Cup, Xfinity, Gander Outdoors Truck) moving forward. Here’s a breakdown of the new system.

Three performance metrics will be utilized, with each one weighted a little different. It breaks down as follows.

• Finishing position from the previous race (weighted 50%)
• Ranking in team owner points standings (35%)
• Fastest lap from the previous race (15%)

This system will be used for the remaining regular season races and the playoffs.

Pole sitter Justin Allgaier is the favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook at +250. He’s won two straight Xfinity Series races and plenty of experience at Bristol. Allgaier has five top five finishes in his last seven races at Bristol. Points leader Austin Cindric will start in fourth on the grid and has the second best odds at +275. Chase Briscoe rounds out the top three at +300 and will start behind Allgaier.
