There are some wide receivers widely available that either have good matchups heading into Week 2 or had successful Week 1 performances under a new offense. With that in mind, here are five WRs with under 50% ownership at traditional fantasy leagues that owners can consider picking up in their leagues.
Parris Campbell, Colts (22 percent)
Campbell looked good in Week 1 against the Jaguars, as he caught 6-of-9 targets for 71 yards and also had one rushing attempt for nine more yards. The team wants to get the ball in his hands and he is a matchup nightmare. They also get to face the Jets at home next week. You know, the team that just allowed Josh Allen to throw for his personal best yardage number.
Mike Williams, Chargers (45 percent)
Williams was questionable coming into Week 1, but he was a full go and looked good catching 4-of-9 targets for a nice 69 yards. Tyrod Taylor wasn’t very good in Week 1, but he did give Williams deep chances and wasn’t afraid to pull the trigger. That’s great news and if it continues, a big game is on the horizon for Williams. The team stays at home this week to take on a cross-country traveling Panthers team that is also quite awful defensively.
Corey Davis, Titans (3.9 percent)
We’ve been waiting for a breakout season from Davis, and maybe this will finally be it. Davis led the Titans with seven receptions for 101 yards on Monday Night Football. It’s too early to tell if this will become a trend for Davis, but Tannehill was looking his and A.J. Brown’s way with regularity. He’s worth a look.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Packers (7 percent)
Allen Lazard, Packers (42 percent)
Both Lazard and Valdes-Scantling put up good numbers as Aaron Rodgers smoked the Vikings Sunday. Lazard caught all four of his targets for 63 yards and a touchdown while MVS caught 4-of-6 targets for 96 yards and a touchdown. With Rodgers looking like his old self, both of these receivers should be in line for production, but they still are way behind Davante Adams who had a whopping 17 targets.
Scotty Miller, Buccaneers (6 percent)
Miller likely saw an uptick in work due to Mike Evans’ injury and matchup with Marcus Lattimore, but he played well and has the trust of Tom Brady. He caught 5-of-6 targets for 73 yards and even got a rushing attempt. The better news is that the Bucs get to take on a much worse defense against the Panthers in Tampa Bay in Week 2 and they’ll want to destroy them.
Robby Anderson, Panthers (31 percent)
It doesn’t look like any one receiver is going to dominate the targets for the Panthers, so we could have some inconsistency from D.J. Moore and higher floor games for Anderson and Curtis Samuel. I like both as possible pickups this week, but Anderson is the higher upside pick as a deep play receiver. Week 2 has the Panthers taking on the Chargers good secondary, but after that they get the Cardinals and Falcons, who should be nice matchups for this group.
Deep League Pickups
Laviska Shenault, Jaguars (12 percent), Sammy Watkins, Chiefs (49 percent), Russell Gage, Falcons (2 percent), Curtis Samuel, Panthers (31 percent)
