Halftime update: Landry has notched three receptions for 37 yards while OBJ has one reception for 16 yards through two quarters. Neither has reached the end zone.
It feels like we say this every year now, but the Cleveland Browns are a scary offense on paper.
Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, David Njoku, Austin Hooper, Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt... The offense has weapons. The only questions are usually: 1) Are there enough touches to go around? and 2) Can quarterback Baker Mayfield play at a high enough level to bring out the best in these players?
In Week 1, the Browns are set to face off against the Baltimore Ravens and former MVP Lamar Jackson. If Cleveland wants any chance of trying to win this game, it likely means having to put up a lot of points - which makes for a big fantasy day for players like OBJ and Jarvis Landry.
Fantasy Football analysis: Browns WRs Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry
The Browns and Ravens game realistically ends in one of two ways: Either there’s a shootout and it’s a high-scoring contest that potentially comes down to the last score, or it’s a blowout and the Ravens take care of business against the Browns in convincing fashion.
In either scenario, the Browns passing attack will still find ways to move the ball. Even if just in garbage time, Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry will be Mayfield’s 1a. and 1b. options in downfield attacks.
The Ravens gave up an average of 34.0 fantasy points (according to DraftKings scoring) to opposing wide receivers last year, and I expect the Cleveland receiving corps to top that average - which Beckham and Landry leading the way.
