What to do with Jimmy Graham in Week 1 fantasy football

Until something happens to tell us otherwise, you should probably avoid starting Jimmy Graham.

The days of Jimmy Graham on the 2011 New Orleans Saints offense are long gone. Graham has gone from an elite fantasy starter with Drew Brees throwing him the ball on one of the NFL’s best offenses, to a questionable fantasy play on a Mitch Trubisky-led Chicago Bears team.

With Chicago traveling to the Motor City Week 1 to face the Detroit Lions, there are little reasons for optimism.

Fantasy Football analysis: Bears TE Jimmy Graham

Here’s an easy way to think about it:

In 2019, Graham finished the year with 447 yards and 3 touchdowns as a member of the Green Bay Packers. That was with Aaron bleeping Rodgers as his quarterback.

In 2020, Graham is now one year older and has Mitchell Trubisky throwing him the ball.

The Detroit Lions are a bit of an enigma as we enter the 2020 NFL season, but NFL fans know what to expect with Trubisky. Unless or until the Bears make a change at quarterback, the Bears offense outside of David Montgomery and Allen Robinson should be avoided - including the once-elite Jimmy Graham.
