How to handle Boston Scott with Miles Sanders OUT in Week 1 fantasy football

Miles Sanders was a limited participant in each of the last three practices for the Eagles, and was ruled out on Saturday. We break down what it means for Boston Scott

Inactives report: Miles Sanders is inactive, and Boston Scott is getting the starting nod for the Eagles. Scott is a solid starting option today against a bad Washington defense.

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without running back Miles Sanders in their season-opener against the Washington Football Team. Sanders has been dealing with a hamstring injury and was a limited participant in the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday practices. Late in the week, there was optimism about his Sunday availability, but on Saturday he was downgraded from questionable to out.

In addition to being a capable starting running back in the NFL, Sanders does a lot of his damage in the passing game as he caught 50 passes in his rookie season in 2019. One issue for him was his inability to find himself in the end zone with only three rushing touchdowns all season. If he can get that corrected, Sanders should be able to help fantasy owners in a big way once he gets healthy.

Fantasy impact: The upside to this news is you’re not left wondering until inactives. Boston Scott replaces him in the starting lineup, with Corey Clement and Jason Huntley serving as backups. Scott is not as good as Sanders, but is still an RB2 or flex option depending on the size of your roster. He should get the bulk of the work and not lose too many touches to Clement or Huntley, so you’ve got a volume play at least.
