What to do with Ronald Jones, Leonard Fournette in Week 1 fantasy football

Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones might not be worth starting against the Saints on SUnday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ backfield got shaken up in a major way ahead of the 2020 NFL season. Leonard Fournette was unexpectedly released by the Jacksonville Jaguars before signing a one-year deal with the Buccaneers. Can he make be an impact player forTampa Bay against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday without having a full grasp on the offense, or will he take a backseat to Jones? We’ll go over the best way to tackle this situation in fantasy football below.

Fantasy Football analysis: Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones, Leonard Fournette

Fournette has two 1,000 yard seasons in three years and had his best campaign yet in 2019. He ran for 1,152 yards and three scores while also hauling in 76 passes for 522 yards in his final run with the Jaguars. That was good enough to make him RB7 in PPR leagues. While he has a higher ceiling than Jones because of his versatility, Bruce Arians has made it clear that the newcomer will be used “situationally.”

Jones isn’t nearly as accomplished as Fournette and notched a career high 732 rushing yards in 2019. Arians says the third-year back still has the starting job. I wouldn’t bank on him putting up spectacular numbers against the Saints’ elite run defense though.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Don’t start Jones or Fournette. Fournette has a higher ceiling because of his ability to act as a power back in goal line situations, but the Buccaneers will mostly be looking to stretch the field through the air.
