Confusing injury situations are harder to come across in the first week of the season. But that’s exactly what we’re dealing with for Pittsburgh Steelers second-year wide receiver Diontae Johnson. A foot injury has left his status for Monday night’s game against the Giants up in the air, leaving fantasy owners with a situation they’re going to have to keep a close eye on through the weekend.
Fantasy Football analysis: Pittsburgh Steelers, WR, Diontae Johnson
A third-round pick out of Toledo last year, Johnson burst onto the scene in the first month of the season. Despite the Steelers going through most of the season without Ben Roethlisberger, Johnson still managed to finish the year with 680 yards and five touchdowns, setting up big expectations for 2020.
Unfortunately, injuries have kept Johnson off the field off and on through the lead up to the opener. He’s dealing with a foot injury now, and was not on the field for Thursday’s practice. Because they play a Monday night game, we might not have a clear indication of whether or not he’ll play until Sunday morning. It’s probably best to avoid Johnson in fantasy lineups this week.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Sit Diontae Johnson.
