What to do with Logan Thomas in Week 1 fantasy football

Washington is not likely to be very good in 2020 - and it’s not likely Logan Thomas will be either.

Let’s face it: The Washington Football team just might not be very good at football in 2020. That is even more apparent when considering that 29-year-old Logan Thomas, who initially came into the league back in 2014 and who has a total of two touchdowns in his career, is the team’s best option at tight end.

But Washington hosts the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1, it’s possible there could be garbage-time points to be found somewhere.

Fantasy Football analysis: Washington Football Team, TE, Logan Thomas

Tight ends usually provide an excellent security blanket for inexperienced quarterbacks, but Jeremy Sprinkle, who started 13 games for Washington in 2019, ended the season with just 241 yards (or 18 yards per game).

Wide receiver Terry McLaurin eats up a lion’s share of the targets in Washington, and even if Washington is blown out early, it just does not appear to be a scenario where Thomas could get a significant amount of targets. While tight ends are typically a go-to option for a quarterback to check down to after an initial read down the field isn’t there, Washington drafted running back/wide receiver hybrid Antonio Gibson in the 3rd round of the 2020 NFL Draft, whose skills after the catch would make Gibson - not Thomas - the primary check-down option this year.
