What to do with Duke Johnson in Week 1 fantasy football

Duke Johnson is heading into his second season for the Houston Texans after spending four seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Carlos Hyde saw the bulk of the carries for Houston in last year, and he’s now with the Seattle Seahawks. Will the loss of Hyde lead to an increase in usage for Johnson this season? Unfortunately just like last season, he will not be the lead man in 2019.

The Texans’ trade of DeAndre Hopkins will likely lead to more carries for Houston running backs, but it’s likely David Johnson will see the benefits. He was the main returning piece in the trade that was highly criticized this offseason, so it’s likely the Texans want to feature him as much as possible. Duke Johnson will likely be a change of pace running back who can make plays out of the backfield including in the passing game. He saw 83 carries last season for 410 yards and scored two touchdowns. He also added 44 receptions for 410 yards and added three receiving touchdowns.

The Kansas City Chiefs struggled against the run in 2019, so it’s possible the Texans will find success as a team running the ball on Thursday night.
