Richaun Holmes listed as out Sunday vs. Rockets [UPDATE]

Kings PF/C was questionable but able to play briefly on Friday vs. the Nets. He left in the second half and is now being kept out.

UPDATE: Aug. 8, 5:38 p.m. Holmes is being listed as out for Sunday’s game vs. the Houston Rockets.

UPDATE: SAC-BKN — Holmes was forced to exit Friday’s game vs. the Nets in the second half due to the hip injury and did not return.

UPDATE: Aug. 7, 4:34 p.m.Holmes will play and start vs. the Nets. Bazemore has been ruled out.

So Bazemore being out boosts Bogdanovic and Hield a bit. Holmes playing should kill any chance of Len being a big value play. Remember though, this could be a blowout for the Kings, so we could see some of those bench guys a decent amount by the second half.

UPDATE: Aug. 7, 3:32 p.m. — Well, it looks like we’re waiting until after lock to get news on Holmes and Baze.

So at $4,900, there isn’t a great C pivot off of Holmes just looking at some centers priced around him. If you leave some salary open, you can get up to Derrick Favors at $5,200. I think the best way to approach this is roll with Holmes in the UTIL if you like him and pivot to Harrison Barnes at $4,700 whenever we get news.

A few Sacramento Kings players popped up on the injury report ahead of Friday’s game vs. the Brooklyn Nets. PF/C Richaun Holmes is being listed as questionable with a hip injury. SG Kent Bazemore is also questionable due to calf soreness. Both could be held out later in the day.

The Kings absolutely smashed the New Orleans Pelicans 140-125 on Thursday afternoon. Holmes was relatively quiet with 8 points and 5 rebounds in 32 minutes. Bazemore came off the bench and scored 8 points with 3 rebounds in 19 minutes. Let’s take a look at how to approach things if one or both are sidelined.

Fantasy basketball impact

We’ve got some news on the Nets side — Jarrett Allen and Joe Harris are questionable — to wait for before tip-off at 5:00 p.m. ET. If Holmes is out, Harrison Barnes ($4,700) becomes a very appealing chalk play. He’s been returning solid value and should see around 25-30 minutes IF this game is competitive. That’s the thing. If Harris and Allen play, then this game should be closer. If both are out, the Kings could be on the strong side of another blowout.

Other pivots that stand out if Holmes is out include Nemanja Bjelica ($5,000) and Alex Len ($3,000). There’s a good chance Len starts at center and is min-priced. Len was solid in 15 minutes against the Pels, scoring 8 points with 6 rebounds and a steal. If Bazemore is out, his minutes should go to Buddy Hield ($5,100), but coach Luke Walton also hates Buddy Hield for some reason. That leads me to believe it’ll be a lot of Bogdan Bogdanovic ($5,100) and Cory Joseph ($4,300) again.
