Tale of the tape for Gavin Tucker vs. Justin Jaynes

Gavin Tucker and Justin Jaynes square off in a featherweight bout during UFC Fight Night Saturday, in Las Vegas. We break down the odds.

It’s the only featherweight fight on the card as Gavin Tucker fights for the first time in a year against a newcomer on a six-week turnaround in Justin Jaynes at UFC Fight Night on ESPN+ this Saturday live from Las Vegas.

Tucker is 11-1 with a 2-1 record in the UFC, his only loss a decision that was a black mark on MMA as it should have been stopped far sooner than it was. That fight skews his stats as it makes for than one-third of his time in the cage, but he’s averages 2.08 takedowns and 2.66 strikes per minute. The Canadian uses the nickname “The Newfoundland Terror” and at age 34 had almost a two-year layoff after that loss. He returned with a third-round stoppage win over Seung Woo Choi in July of last year.

Jaynes has only one UFC fight on his resume, but it’s a 41 second knockout of Frank Camacho in the same UFC Apex arena on June 20th. He’s 16-4 overall and has never been stopped in his career, but “Guitar Hero” fought last time at lightweight. He drops to featherweight on short notice here, but his impressive performance last time is helping him keep the money close according to oddsmakers.
