Can LeBron, AD combine for over 50 points vs. Thunder?

The Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder highlight one of the key matchups on Wednesday’s six-game NBA slate. The Lakers are fresh off clinching the No. 1 overall seed in the Western Conference. LeBron James and Anthony Davis have had mixed results in the bubble, but are looking primed and ready for a title run starting later in the month.

We’ve seen AD go for big point totals so far, dropping 42 points on the Utah Jazz a few nights ago. LeBron hasn’t picked up his scoring, though he hasn’t had to with Davis dominating. So with that said, DraftKings Sportsbook is offering an odds boost for Wednesday night on AD and LeBron’s combined point total. Head here if you’re in one of the eligible states for the lines. LeBron James & Anthony Davis to score over 49.5 combined points (+115)

So normally we would hop all over this boost, right? The Lakers have faced the Thunder three times this season. One time, AD and James were both out. The other two games? Well, one of them the pair smashed this number with a combined 59 points. The other time? Same deal, a combined 55 points. So this is a relatively safe bet with the odds boost. Even if LeBron facilitates more and ends up with around 20 points, we’ve seen AD put up over 40, so all we need to get to 50 total is 30 from Davis.

OKC doesn’t have too much front court depth, so Danilo Gallinari could end up guarding either LeBron or Davis at parts of this game. The Thunder run a smaller lineup with Chris Paul, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luguentz Dort all start and Gallo at PF. Guys off the bench who could see playing time are Darius Bazley and Hamidou Diallo. Again, none of these players matchup well against James or Davis.

My only concern here is that the Lakers could opt to rest players after clinching the No. 1 overall seed. They may not announce this before the game as well, so it could be a scenario like the Bucks on Tuesday — Giannis and Khris Middleton played the first half and sat out the second half. That game was competitive as well. The thing is, I’d imagine LeBron still wants to get reps in after the long layoff and this game could be tight. James seems like the type of guy who relishes playing against friends like CP3. Monitor the news, however, and adjust accordingly.
