Tiger Woods second in betting splits for PGA Championship [UPDATE]

Tiger Woods returns to a course where he has two big performances in his career. The betting public continues to back him.

UPDATE 1:38 p.m.: The book provided updated numbers, and Tiger Woods has moved into a tie for second-most betting handle to win the PGA Championship. Brooks Koepka has 15 percent, and Woods is tied with Xander Schauffele at 8 percent.

Tiger Woods tees off on Thursday at the 2020 PGA Championship looking to win his 16th career major and earn his record-breaking 83rd career PGA Tour win. He stumbled three weeks ago at the Memorial Tournament, but that is not stopping the betting public from backing the veteran pro.

DraftKings Sportsbook has Woods listed at +3300 to win this week’s tournament, which is tied for 11th best odds. Entering Wednesday, he was ranked third in total handle bet on him at 7 percent. Brooks Koepka (+1100) tops the list with 13 percent of handle and Xander Schauffele (+1800) is second at 8 percent.

Woods made the cut at the Memorial Tournament last month, but it was a struggle for him. He barely made the cut after a second round 76, and finished at +6 following a 71-76-71-76 performance. He acknowledged his back remains an issue, but he slogged through the event and finished tied for 40th.

This year’s PGA Championship is at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, and Woods does have some solid history at the course. He won the 2005 WGC-American Express Championship, beating John Daly in a playoff after they both finished at -10 for the tournament. In 2009, the Presidents Cup took place at the course and Woods won all five of his matches.
