BKN-MIL Final, 119-116 — The Nets have done it! Brooklyn pulled off the upset over Milwaukee after being 19 point underdogs. Incredible. It was a wild ride. The Bucks didn’t even get a shot off on the last possession. Giannis and Middleton sat the whole second half. Wow. Here’s some background on just how monumental an upset this was in the NBA:
The Brooklyn Nets just pulled off the largest NBA upset point spread-wise since 1993 (Mavs +19.5 over Supersonics), per @ESPNStatsInfo.

Nets closed as consensus 19-point underdogs and beat the Bucks 119-116.
Giannis finished with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the first half. MIddleton had 8 points and 4 boards. Nobody on the Bucks would scored more than Giannis in the game. Luwawu-Cabarrot led all scorers with 26 points before fouling out. Temple hit the huge shot to take a 3-point lead and finished with 19 points in 26 minutes.
Not only did the Nets cover and hit the money line, but the over also hit at 235 points. It’s crazy how a half of basketball can go in one direction and then we get one of the biggest upsets in NBA betting history after that. Not to mention, the Nets are one win away from hitting their over for wins in the bubble at 2.5.
UPDATE: GARRETT TEMPLE HUGE SHOT TO GIVE THE NETS A 3-POINT LEAD. Brooklyn is up 119-116 with 6.8 seconds left. The Bucks have to get a 3 to tie and don’t have much time. They also don’t have their best 3-point shooter in Middleton, but they do have Korver. Let’s see what Milwaukee draws up.
UPDATE: We’re under a minute to play and the Nets are up 3 with the ball. They can kill some clock and get a bucket and steal this win from the Bucks. Nevermind, they turned it over and now it’s 117-116.
UPDATE: Just like that, Kyle Korver hits a corner 3 and it’s tied 115-115. Hold up though, they’re reviewing the shot and it’s ruled a two-pointer, so Nets up 115-114. That could be huge.
UPDATE: TLC has come alive again with a few 3s late in the game and now the Nets are up 115-100 with just over 2:00 left in the fourth. Garrett Temple is playing well and Brooklyn is in control again after blowing the lead. Temple and TLC lead the way in terms of fantasy points, but Luwawu-Cabarrot just fouled out, so that isn’t great for the Nets.
UPDATE: The Bucks have made their run with the bench mob and are up 3 points, 107-104. This is going to be quite the sweat for anyone who had Nets ML and whoever had the over in this game. We’re at 211 and the O/U was around 230.5 points. With 5:29 left, we’re still on pace to hit that over, but it’ll be close. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: The Nets are still leading in the fourth quarter and have pretty much controlled the entire second half with no Giannis or Middleton. Garrett Temple has come alive with 14 points on 4-9 shooting from outside. TLC is leading the Nets with 20 points on 6-10 shooting from the field. The Bucks haven’t gotten much from one player and are going at it by committee.
UPDATE: So Giannis and Middleton may be out of the game but it looks like this one will still finish tight. There were very, very steep odds for the Nets to win, so anyone who had ML or even spread bets on Brooklyn are looking good. Spread bets, forget about it, Brooklyn has this cover locked up.
Third Quarter — So the Bucks are throwing in the towel? Giannis and Middleton didn’t start the second half and it looks like we’re going to get an All-Star-less half of basketball in the bubble. RIP in peace to all you Giannis lineups out there who thought you have leverage and then had it ripped away by an angry Budenholzer. Rest easy, my friends ... (lights candle).
Halftime update — The Bucks are kind of falling apart. They’ve allowed a WHOPPING 73 points at halftime and are trailing by eight points. Against the Brooklyn Nets. Who don’t have 6 regular rotation players. The Bucks have — checks notes — the favorite for NBA MVP in 2019-20? Yeah, so things aren’t going well for Mike Budenholzer’s squad right now.
If you threw money on the Nets ML, well Jesus, what do you do? You could probably cash the ticket for a decent amount right now. Or let it ride and see if Brooklyn can hold on to complete the miracle. This game is going Snowpiercer toward the OVER of 230.5 points. We’re on pace for what? almost 280 points total.
Second Quarter — So Giannis got shoved down by Donta Hall in the paint and now we’re sorting things out. Double foul and a jump ball, crisis averted. God forbid they take Giannis leverage away from us by ejected him.
BUT NOW WAIT A MINUTE! Giannis is pissed off. Giannis has every reason to go out and destroy Brooklyn right now. So we’ve got underowned, motivated Greek Freak. AGAINST THE NETS. IN THE BUBBLE.
Okay, things have quieted down in this game and things are stabilized. So maybe we can do some quick updates. Crawford isn’t returning for the Nets due to a hamstring injury. Sorry if you took a shot on Craw, he’s a personally favorite of mine.
Giannis has 12-6-4 so he’s looking like he’s going to get one of those triple-doubles I keep hearing about. Middleton is at 5-4-2 but is cold from outside. Bledsoe has 6 points and 2 dimes in his first game in the bubble.
Rodions Kurucs chalk is hitting so far with 8 points and a board early on. TLC hasn’t scored anything since the first quarter. The game is tied 45-45, so still very much competitive as of now. Let’s see if this is where the Bucks go on a big run.
GIANNIS SMASH!
First Quarter — I’m hyperventilating right now. No I’m not, I’m okay, I’m okay. Are you guys OK? I’m okay. So, yeah, the Nets are leading the Bucks 40-34 after the first quarter of this game. This is like if we were watching the Replacements without Shane Falco and everyone else who was good on that team. No Clifford Robinson. No Jon Favreau scary linebacker ex-cop. No Rhys Ifans kicking FGs from 70 yards out. This is as if it’s that team but with all the extras.
So we’re onto the second quarter and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot has 10 points and the Nets are shooting almost 40% from 3-point range. I don’t know how much more I can take of this game but I’m going to keep watching because I’m a glutton for punishment.
UPDATE: Giannis checks out of the first quarter with 19.00 DKFP on 12 points, 2 rebounds, 2!!! MADE 3-POINTERS, 3 assists and a pair of turnovers. Giannis barely shoots 2 3-pointers in a game let alone hits TWO in a QUARTER.
I never thought this day would come. I’ve dreamed of this opportunity for all my life. ALLLLLL MY LIIIIIIFE, I PRAYED FOR LOW OWNERSHIP ON GIANNIS. So anyway, the Milwaukee Bucks are in a tight contest with the G-League Nets on Tuesday afternoon. Giannis Antetokounmpo is currently on a war path and nobody saw this coming, I guess?
For example, in the $4 GPP on DraftKings which has almost 45,000 entries, Antetokounmpo is coming in at 9.3% ownership. NINE. POINT. THREE. Giannis is already up to 10 points and we aren’t even halfway through the first quarter. PLUS, the game is close! IT’S CLOSE! I FEEL LIKE I’M TAKING CRAZY PILLS! Okay, I need to cool off. More to come.
Not only is Giannis underowned in the $4 GPP, he’s perpetually underowned pretty much everywhere, hovering around 10% in most contests. What were we thinking? Where are the Giannis lineups? Maybe I’m overreacting to all this, there’s plenty of time for Giannis to cool off or get pulled from the game by Mike Budenholzer. Still, we could see The Greek Freak reach around 60 fantasy points at non-existent ownership.
Don’t even get me started on Khris Middleton, I mean, he’s also barely in any lineups at 3.8% in the $4 GPP. The best part is, the NETS ARE STILL IN IT! They were winning a second ago. Brooklyn is out to prove all of us wrong for calling them a G-League team a few paragraphs ago.
