The good folks from around the SBNation team sites have given us their fantasy picks for the 2020 season. They were asked which player from their team would be the best fantasy sleeper, rookie, and potential bust. It’s always interesting to get fantasy perspective from those who cover specific teams, as they are entrenched in the intricacies of their rosters.
Below we have players the team sites believe are potential fantasy busts. That doesn’t mean the player all of the sudden can’t remember how to play football. A fantasy bust is a player who doesn’t live up to their statistical expectations. Christian McCaffrey would be a fantasy bust if he finishes as the 10th best fantasy back in the league this season.
Injury concerns are also a reason a player could be picked as a potential bust. Players like Todd Gurley, Sony Michel, Tyler Eifert, Greg Olsen and Kenyan Drake might find it hard to perform at a top level for a full 16 games. Other possible busts include players who look like they could be on the short end of the playing time stick. David Njoku, Kerryon Johnson, Marlon Mack, Matt Breida, Jordan Howard, Kyle Rudolph, and Vance McDonald might all have trouble winning enough targets and touches to be good fantasy players.
There are other players on this list you might not expect to see. Aaron Jones and A.J. Brown, are two who had big 2020 seasons, but can be considered potential busts. It will be difficult for them to have the kind of per touch efficiency they had last season. That doesn’t mean it’s not possible, but you don’t often see their kind of efficiency stats stay as high as they were last year.
When looking for busts, possible injuries, competition for playing time and elevated efficiency stats from the previous year are all useful. This list is full of players who fit into those categories and is worth your time to get to know.
