Opening Lines for Week 1 of college football

We’ve got lines for a limited but still exciting Week 1 of college football.

It’s almost hard to believe, but the first full week of college football is here. But instead of all 130 FBS schools being in action between Thursday and Monday as is tradition over Labor Day Weekend, we’ll see just 12 of them competing this year.

The first FBS vs. FBS game of 2020 will be the South Alabama Jaguars heading to Hattiesburg to take on the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. USA is laying 14 on the road to open after going just 2-10 last season, with a 1-7 mark in the Sun Belt. USM limped home to a 7-6 finish, losing their last three including a 30-13 loss to Tulane in the Armed Forces Bowl.

Perhaps the most interesting game is the SMU Mustangs heading to San Marcos to take on Texas State Bobcats. Jake Spavital went 3–9 in his first season with TSU, but has been charged with tearing down the Sun Belt team all the way to the roots. Meanwhile SMU returns only 13 of 22 starters from one of the feel-good stories of college football last season. The Ponies finished 10-3 and won double-digit games for the first time since returning from the NCAA death penalty in 1989.

There are also four games with FCS opponents visiting FBS schools this week, but lines for those games aren’t established as of yet.

Here are the lines for Week 1 of the 2020 college football season:
