The St. Louis Cardinals will have additional games postponed due to their rash of positive Covid-19 tests. The team was set to open a series with the Detroit Tigers on Monday but the entire series has been postponed. The Cardinals had multiple positive Covid-19 tests in recent days, and as of Monday it is believe to be 13, according to reporter Joel Sherman. That number includes seven players.
This follows the postponement of the team’s weekend series with the Milwaukee Brewers, leaving St. Louis without a game for a week. There is no word yet on how the team will make up the games in the abbreviated 60-game schedule. It already included six off days per team, which would leave the Cardinals, Marlins, and Phillies, among others, playing a significant number of doubleheaders if they wanted to get the full 60-game slate completed.
Ken Rosenthal is also reporting the Cardinals-White Sox game at the Field of Dreams stadium in Iowa has been canceled due to logistical issues.
