The San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies will play Monday at 8:40 p.m. ET in Colorado. Righty Chi Chi Gonzalez will face the righty Johnny Cueto. DraftKings will have Showdown DFS contests available for the matchup. We break down the ideal lineup strategy below, and you can play here.
Captain’s Pick
Donovan Solano, 2B, Giants: $12,600
Chi Chi Gonzalez will make his first start of the season as the fifth starter. Gonzalez hasn’t been good so far in the majors. Playing in Colorado won’t help of course, but last season he sported a 1.57 HR/9 and he didn’t discriminate between lefties and righties in allowing those dingers.
Solano is on a heater through two weeks of the season. He has 15 hits through 32 at bats with 13 RBIs and just three strikeouts. Those numbers get even better when you look just at him facing righties, as he has gone hitless against lefties in nine at bats. That’s not great for when a lefty comes in, but I’ll take my chances with how he’s playing.
Trevor Story, OF, Rockies: $16,500
Story has been his normal self, slugging .759 with an OPS of 1.231 through two weeks of the season. He’s also back in the thin Colorado air facing a much declined Johnny Cueto, who he has hit well in his career. If you feel good about your cheaper options, Story is a great play in the Captain’s seat.
Utility Picks
Ryan McMahon, 1B/2B, Rockies: $6,800
The lefty McMahon is solid against righties, as he has a .354 wOBA against them so far this season. He hasn’t shown much power, but he hit a home run yesterday. I expect this game to have more runs than you can imagine and McMahon should be a part of that.
Sam Hilliard, OF, Rockies: $5,400
Hilliard has gotten off to a rocky start, but hasn’t been completely on so far. His numbers against righties are hard to pass on at his price though. In his short time in the majors, he’s hitting a .351 ISO, .610 SLG and .383 wOBA against righties and if he gets the start in Colorado at this price, I’m playing him.
