Alex Caceres and Austin Springer fight on the undercard at a catchweight during UFC Fight Night Saturday in Las Vegas. We break down the odds.

We have a replacement fighter for a replacement fighter fighting on Saturday in the octagon, and the man that will actually get in the cage missed weight by a whopping six (6) pounds. But it will still be a bout on Saturday when Alex Caceres takes on the heavier Austin Springer at a catchweight of 151 lbs. instead of the planned upon featherweight limit of 145 lbs.

Springer is a former Dana White’s Contender Series winner that is stepping in for Kevin Croom, who was stepping in for Giga Chikadze, who was scratched for unknown reasons earlier this week. For the huge weight miss, Springer will forfeit 30% of his purse to Caceres and be ineligible for any fight bonuses.

Caceres goes by the best nickname in combat sports, “Bruce Leeroy,” and is 16-12-1 in MMA. He’s won twice in a row by decision, first against Steven Peterson in 2019 and a decision over Chase Hooper on June 6th. The 32-year-old from Miami made his octagon debut in 2011, and is 11-10-1 in the UFC. He lands 4.14 significant strikes per minute in the octagon, as well as 0.55 takedowns per 15 minutes of fight time.

Springer is 12-2 and fighting for the first time since October of 2019 in Cagesport MMA, a win over Kevin Boehm. His DWCS appearance was a submission win over Chikadze in June of 2018, but the Georgian got the the promotion in a loss before the winner did. The Vancouver, Washington native will certainly be the bigger man for the fight, as coming in at six pounds over gives him an edge he might not have for his UFC debut under normal circumstances.

Here are the betting odds from various websites for Alex Caceres vs. Austin Springer at UFC Fight Night on August 29th.
