Yes, it’s true, we’ve got college football this weekend. And while there won’t be a lot of stakes for the Austin Peay Governors of the Ohio Valley Conference and the Central Arkansas Bears of the Southland Conference.
The fans of the Governors famously chant “Let’s go Peay!” at games, who went 11-4 last year and won two games in the FCS Playoffs before falling to Montana State in the quarterfinals. The reigning OVC Champions return plenty of starts from last season, But Austin Peay is 1-7 all-time in games broadcast on national or regional TV. With the eyes of the world on them, that might not be great considering the history.
On the other side the Bears took a share of the Southland title last season, but the Fightin’ Scottie Pippens of Central Arkansas were 9-4 in 2019. Despite earning a bye and the #8 seed in the FCS Playoffs, they fell in the second round of the tournament to Illinois State at home 24-14.
Despite all the chaos that has befallen college football schedules across America, this game has not been canceled, postponed, or altered since it was announced on January 29th, 2020. Which somehow was 13 years ago.
