Will CJ McCollum nail over 3.5 treys in Game 5 vs. Lakers?

Without Damian Lillard, there are some interesting prop bets available Wednesday night for the Blazers.

The Portland Trail Blazers face elimination on Wednesday night in Game 5 against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Blazers will also be trying to extend their season without the services of Damian Lillard, who is out with a knee sprain. With no Dame, Portland will need to pick up the slack elsewhere on offense. Most of the offensive burden will rest on the shoulders of CJ McCollum, Carmelo Anthony and Jusuf Nurkic. Let’s take a look at some player props for the Blazers and whether or not the numbers make sense on DraftKings Sportsbook.

CJ McCollum over 3.5 three-pointers (+122)

This number seems pretty favorable for McCollum tonight. With Lillard off the court, we can safely assume McCollum will shoot the ball a lot. If that’s the case, double digit 3-point attempts seems likely. In Game 3 when CJ shot 12 3-pointers, he made 4 of them, which hits this over. During the regular season, in 14 games in which McCollum had double-digit 3-point attempts, he hit 4 or more 12 times. We’re also getting plus-money on this number. It’s a lot to ask but everything lines up well for CJ to shoot a ton.

CJ McCollum over 38.5 points, rebounds & assists (-110)

This one also seems to line up pretty well. We can expect McCollum to play PG for most of the night. His usage rate will be through the roof. McCollum’s point total is also set at 26.5 on DKSB, but I’ve seen this number around 30 points on other books. If McCollum is expected to get to around 30 points, all we need is 5 rebounds and 4 assists to hit the over here. Given the increase in usage, the potential amount of minutes McCollum will play and this being maybe the last game of his season, I like the over here as well.

Carmelo Anthony over 5.5 rebounds (-122)

The number on this isn’t that great. That’s the only reason I’d maybe not feel good about this number. The other thing is Hassan Whiteside has been starting, and he vultures boards from Melo. Whiteside also started in Game 3 and Melo had 6 rebounds in 42 minutes. In two games in which Melo played at least 38 minutes, he went over this rebounding total. With Dame out and the season on the line, Anthony should play over 30 minutes. If that’s the case, his chances of hitting the over here seem good.
