Report: Tyrell Williams suffers torn labrum

The Las Vegas Raiders will be without starting wide receiver Tyrell Williams after he suffered a torn labrum, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The Raiders starting receiver will rehab and then try to play through the injury according to Rapoport.

Last season, Williams got off to a hot start, but plantar fasciitis slowed him down considerably. Appearing to be fully healed coming into this season, Williams suffered yet another setback. Trying to rehab and play through a torn labrum is not going to be easy and at best, he won’t be as effective as he could be if 100 percent.

Williams could easily rehab and then go on the PUP list to try to return mid-season or end up getting surgery if the rehab doesn’t go well. At this point, you should take him completely off your draft boards.

Williams’ bad news could be good news for rookie Bryan Edwards or veteran Zay Jones. First round draft pick Henry Ruggs was already penciled in for slot work, but could also move outside now, leaving Hunter Renfrow the majority of slot work while Edwards and Jones battle for the other starting position on the outside.

Williams still could play this season, but we need to be proactive here, as it will be extremely tough for him to be a full go each week.
