FedExCup Playoffs standings following Round 2 of The Northern Trust

Now that the cut has been made, we break down who is currently projected to make the top 70 that will advance to the 2020 BMW Championship next week.

After The Northern Trust finished Round 2 on Friday, we now have a better sense of who will advance to the BMW Championship at Olympia Fields in Chicago next weekend. Because unless you made the cut, all you can do is fall further backwards unless you play the weekend.

After next weekend, the top 30 in points will head to the season-ending TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, so players are looking to increase their chances of making both fields to have a shot at a guaranteed payday of at least $450,000 if they make the Top 30.

Through Friday at TPC Boston, Dustin Johnson holds a two-shot lead at -15. If he holds on for the win, he’ll be in second place in the FedEx Cup standings next week entering Chicago. Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Davis trail him at -13, and three golfers at -12 can all improve their chances at East Lake with a productive weekend: Danny Lee (started the tournament 53rd, now projected 29th), Harris English (started 27th, now 15th), and Louis Oostuhuizen (started 99th, now 46th).

And for those wondering, Tiger Woods finished on the cut line at -3, and will play the weekend. He entered this tournament ranked No. 49, but has fallen to 57th and will need to play his way out of the basement this weekend to increase his standing.

Here is the full projected leaderboard for the field at The Northern Trust.
