Welterweights Dwight Grant and Calen Born will face off in the octagon at UFC on ESPN this Saturday night in Las Vegas, with Born stepping in as a last minute replacement for Jared Godden.
Grant enters with a 10-2 mark, and a 2-1 record in the UFC. He won his way to a contract via Dana White’s Contender Series in June of 2018. “The Body Snatcher” from New York City has seven career knockouts, but lands only 2.87 significant strikes per minute in the octagon. He earned a Performance of The Night bonus for his first round knockout of Carlo Pedersoli Jr. in February of 2019. The 35-year-old hasn’t fought since his split decision win in April of 2019 over Alan Jouban.
Born makes his UFC debut with a 7-1 mark with six finishes, and all stoppages coming in the first round. The 32-year-old fights out of the Chute Boxe Kansas City, and has posted half his wins in Shamrock FC. He defeated Craig Fairley by guillotine choke in his last outing on February 22nd, and takes this fight on very late notice.
