The 2020 NBA Draft Lottery will take place at 8:30 p.m. ET and air on ESPN on Thursday night. The 14 teams who will be in the field are a mix of those left out of the NBA bubble in Orlando and those sent home early. The format for the draft lottery is much different this year. Teams at the top have a more even shot at landing the first overall pick. Let’s take a look at the Atlanta Hawks odds to land the No. 1 pick. We’ll update this with results after the lottery, plus analysis on who the team should think of drafting.

Atlanta Hawks NBA Draft Lottery Odds, Results

The Hawks have a 12.5% chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft after finishing with the fourth-worst record in the NBA at 20-47 this season. The Hawks are +600 on DraftKings Sportsbook to win the No. 1 overall pick.

Who should the Hawks select with the No. 6 pick?

Atlanta has two potential 2020 All-Stars on its roster in Trae Young and John Collins. It also added Clint Capela to its frontcourt via trade during the 2019-20 season. The Hawks drafted Cam Reddish and De’Andre Hunter in the 2019 NBA Daft, and both could blossom into quality 3-and-D players, but they need more players who can create for themselves and others. Killian Hayes has solid pro experience and could play as a combo guard alongside Young. His 6’5” frame would allow him defend shooting guards while playing alongside Young in the backcourt. Young is the only returning player Atlanta has that averaged more than 5 assists per game this past season. Hayes is an elite passer has drawn comparisons to James Harden offensively.
