FedExCup Playoffs standings following Round 1 of The Northern Trust

The PGA Tour teed off at The Northern Trust on Friday, and this marks the opening round of its three-round 2020 FedExCup Playoffs. The top 125 golfers are playing at TPC Boston, with the top 70 in points advancing to the BMW Championship at Olympia Fields in Chicago and the top 30 in points advancing to the season-ending TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

Through the first round at TPC Boston, Harris English, Kevin Streelman, Cameron Davis, and Russell Henley are all tied atop the leaderboard at -7. The Playoffs provide triple points and so we are seeing all four make big moves. Henley was ranked No. 101 entering the tournament and currently is projected at No. 7, while Davis entered at No. 91 and would be at No. 6.

We know the leaderboard won’t finish like it looks after day 1, but it shows how much the FedExCup Playoffs leaderboard can change. With the top 70 of this 125-player field advancing to next week’s BMW Championship, it could create some high drama this weekend. Currently, eight golfers outside the top 70 are projected to climb into the top 70. We’ll see if they can hang on over the next three days.
