Odds to win the Southeastern Conference Championship

We’ve got odds available to win the SEC, and you can buy the other 13 teams combined for less than the Crimson Tide.

Now that we’ve got a schedule for SEC college football, we’ve also got some futures odds to go with it.

Each SEC team will be playing their normal six divisional opponents, their annual divisional crossover rivalry opponent, and three other games against the opposite division. But otherwise the tiebreakers and championship game remain the same.

The odds below are for teams to win the SEC Championship in Atlanta on December 19th.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are the favorite at -143 to win their sixth SEC title in the last nine years. With Mac Jones the likely starter at QB and Najee Harris returning for his senior season in the backfield, what makes the Tide roll is the depth they have at every position. When you bring in a Top 5 recruiting class every year (and half the time it’s a Top 1), and add the consistency of leadership and winning under Nick Saban, it’s hard to be moved off your perch. They’re the chalk for a reason: The Process works, and players want to be a part of it because they know it can get them to the NFL.

The Georgia Bulldogs are the trailing team at +200. Kirby Smart has yet to beat his old boss in Saban on the field at Georgia, but he might get two chances in 2020: The Dawgs head to Tuscaloosa on October 17th for a rare regular season meeting. It might be a precursor to them running it back in Atlanta a bit over two months later for the title.

LSU had one of the best teams in the history of college football last season, but enter at +650 because of a massive outflow of talent via both graduation and early entry into the NFL Draft. Myles Brennan steps in at signal caller for Joe Burrow, but the Bayou Bengals return only eight starters from last year’s championship game. They of course have talent, but there’s a roadblock in their own division in Alabama that they’ll need to beat on the road on November 14th, or hope somehow the Tide loses twice other places.

The other East division team with a shot are the Florida Gators at +1200, who will go with Kyle Trask at quarterback. Where the Gators have been dominant under Dan Mullen has been defensively, with athletes and speed oozing from the defensive line and secondary. But can they score enough to keep up in the best league in football is the question.
