Report: Kings, Thunder win NBA Draft Lottery tiebreakers

With teams tied in the standings, a few tiebreakers were decided ahead of the NBA Draft Lottery.

The NBA Draft Lottery will take place this Thursday, August 20th. After the seeding round, a few teams ended up being tied at the bottom of the standings — the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans. Per a report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Kings have won the tiebreaker over the Pelicans. The tiebreaker did not take into consideration the results of the seeding round in the NBA bubble. So the Pels and Kings were tied at 28-36 beforehand.

There was also a tiebreaker to decide the Thunder, Rockets and Jazz positions in the draft. OKC will draft ahead of Houston, while Utah will be last in that order. So because of this format, the Jazz will get a lower seed than the Rockets and Thunder, but have a worse pick than both teams.

So I believe the Wizards will slot in as the 9th-best odds to win the lottery, followed by the Kings and then Pelicans in the lottery.
