DFS considerations for TJ Brown vs. Danny Chavez

TJ Brown and Danny Chavez battle at featherweight during UFC 252 in Las Vegas on August 15th. We break down what to consider in setting your DFS lineups.

TJ Brown missed making weight for this fight by just half a pound, but does that give any indication he’s not prepared for his fight with Danny Chavez at UFC 252 this evening? Is there a DFS angle to be played here?

DraftKings DFS Salaries

TJ Brown: $8,800
Danny Chavez: $7,400

Brown enters as the favorite at -155 on the money line, with Chavez at +125 the underdog.

Brown scored 63 points in his only UFC fight before tapping out to Jordan Griffin in February of this year. Prior to that he had three-straight first-round finishes on the independent circuit, as well as a triangle choke at Dana White’s contender series in the third round.

Chavez took two years off from MMA, but since his return has three-straight first-round stoppages himself in three different promotions, including his win 28 days ago in Miami. Prior to his sabbatical he had seven wins but all by decision. The step-up in class here is big however, with the promotions he was fighting in previously not known for turning out as many UFC stars.

Brown having been through what happens on a UFC fight night twice has an advantage here, and one he has the stopping power to exploit. There are better options on this card, but if forced to choose we’ll go with Brown and hope Chavez continues to get the same experience and improve as well.
