UFC women’s strawweight Felice Herrig is ranked #15 in the division, but she’s an underdog when she faces Virna Jandiroba at UFC 252 Saturday night in Las Vegas.
“Lil’ Bulldog” Herrig enters with a 14-8 record in MMA and a UFC mark of 5-3. Her last two fights were both losses in 2018, and has been on the shelf with an ACL and other injuries since. The 35-year-old from Buffalo Grove, Illinois averages 3.69 strikes per minute as well as 1.20 takedowns per 15-minute match. With only five career stoppages, her last three victories were all by decision. But she has also never been stopped in her career.
Jandiorba is 1-1 in the UFC, and 15-1 overall with 12 career submissions. She fell in her opening bout in Dana White’s promotion to Carla Esparza via decision, but bounced back with a second-round rear-naked choke of Mallory Martin in December of 2019. At 32 from Bahia, Brazil, the former Invicta title holder is a BJJ specialist. She has six total takedowns in her 21:16 of total time in a UFC octagon.
