September, October could be a wild month for one DraftKings Sportsbook bettor

It took lengthy delays, but professional sports is back and excitement is growing. While MLB is making its way through its abbreviated regular season, the NHL has opened the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the NBA will open its playoffs in less than a week. We could decide champions for the three leagues in October for the first time in history.

The bet focused on conference championships plus the World Series across the four major North American sports. He bet on the following:

• Boston Bruins, Eastern Conference champ

• Milwaukee Bucks, Eastern Conference champ

The ticket was purchased the night of December 23rd, and at the time, this was a fairly chalk-y bet. In the NFL, the Chiefs had secured the No. 2 seed in the AFC, while the 49ers had secured the No. 1 seed in the NFC. In the NHL, the Bruins had the second best record in the Eastern Conference, while the Blues had the best record in the Western Conference. In the NBA, the Bucks and Lakers each led their respective conferences. Finally, the Yankees were World Series favorites, with the wager coming prior to the Dodgers trading for Mookie Betts.

The Chiefs and 49ers both took care of business in their respective conferences, securing the first two legs of the parlay. The pandemic almost shut this whole thing down, but the NHL, NBA, and MLB are all cruising along and look to complete their respective seasons in October.

• Yankees: 12-6, first place in AL East, ¹⁄₂ game back of Oakland Athletics for best record in AL
