Los Angeles Rams roster updates from training camp

NFL training camp is underway and rosters will be pared down to the 53-player maximum. We’ll break down the moves as the Los Angeles Rams sort out their roster decisions.

NFL training camp is under way and that means news will start flowing from each team. How that news will be distributed in the time of Covid-19 restrictions is still to be seen, but news will get out one way or the other. We’ll take that news and give you our fantasy and betting analysis. And that news and analysis, including roster moves, injuries, all the way to hype videos, will be disseminated right here, on this very page for the Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams traded away Brandin Cooks and let Todd Gurley walk this offseason. The team drafted Cam Akers and have Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson already, so the running back position should pan out one way or the other.

Jared Goff had a down 2019 and will need to handle pressure better and see improvement on the offensive line. Sean McVay and Goff need to turn things around this season or they could be on a slippery slope back to not very good town.

High fantasy/betting impact

* Coach Sean McVay points to 49ers backfield as a model for the Rams backfield. — source — July 21

With a rookie, second-year back and an undrafted free agent as your top three backs, the Rams don’t have a clear plan at running back yet. Kyle Shanahan mixes and matches his backs, but will always end up giving the hot hand the most touches. That leaves opportunity for all oAkers, Henderson and Brown, but there will likely be a back that separates himself from the pack.

Low fantasy/betting impact

* Signed LB Daniel Bituli and LB Derrick Moncrief — August 25
* Signed running back Jeremy Hill — August 2
* Signed safety Jake Gervase — August 14

The Rams’ backfield will likely be headlined by rookie Cam Akers, but Hill gives them some additional depth. Don’t expect Hill to make a difference on a team that’ll do most of its damage through the air.
