UPDATE 8:53 p.m.: The NHL just announced that Bruins-Hurricanes has been moved to 11 a.m. on Wednesday due to the continuing contest between the Lightning and Blue Jackets.
Due to the length of the Lightning-Blue Jackets game, Game 1 between the @NHLBruins and @Canes – originally scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET today – has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 11:00 a.m. ET.

The start of the series opener between the Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes will be delayed Tuesday night due to the Lightning-Blue Jackets opener going into 3OT. The Bolts and Jackets are tied 2-2 heading into the third extra frame, which is being played in Toronto. So the start time of Boston-Carolina will be moved back.
If Lightning-Blue Jackets game goes past 11:12 in the third period, it will be the longest game in Lightning history. It is already the longest game in Blue Jackets history.
Bruins vs. Hurricanes was expected to start around 8:00 p.m. ET. Instead, because the ice surface needs to be fixed up, the game will likely start after the original time. We’ll update you on when the new start time is once Tampa Bay-Columbus ends.
Boston is a -132 favorite on the money line, with Carolina at +115. The over/under is 5.5, with the under favored at -134.
UPDATE 8 p.m.: Lightning-Blue Jackets is headed to a fourth overtime, so it’s going to be some time before Bruins-Hurricanes gets going.
UPDATE 8:48 p.m.: We’re now headed to a fifth overtime with the score still tied 2-2.
Waiting to play like... #StanleyCup
