The NBA is inching closer to a return at the end of July. The 22 teams participating in the restart of the 2019-20 season have made their way to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Training Camps for each team will run from July 9 through July 29 with scrimmages right up to the season reopening on July 30. With the Los Angeles Lakers beginning training camp, we’ll be tracking all the latest news and injuries here.

Los Angeles Lakers Training Camp news updates

July 21 — Markieff Morris on way to the bubble

Lakers PF Markieff Morris is en route to the bubble in Orlando, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday morning. Morris had been away from the team initially due to an “excused absence” and will get back to practicing prior to the start of scrimmages this week. The Lakers have mostly a veteran front court behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Their issue lies at PG after losing both Avery Bradley and Rajon Rondo.

July 13 — Rajon Rondo (thumb) out for 6 to 8 weeks

Rondo suffered a thumb injury during practice in the bubble and will miss an extended period of time. This doesn’t bode well for the Lakers’ backcourt, as Avery Bradley has already opted out for the remainder of the season. It looks like we’re in for a lot of Alex Caruso minutes.

July 6 — Dwight Howard will play in Bubble

For some reason, Howard needed to go out of his way to tell everyone that he’s going to play in the bubble. The Lakers center will also donate his game checks to charity, so good on him. Howard still has a minor role on the Lakers and will be behind JaVale McGee at center on the depth chart.
