Major League Soccer’s season-opening tournament is running into an assortment of issues, and we’re starting to see schedule changes. Dallas is reportedly withdrawing from the tournament, and the league has begun moving around other matches with Nashville dealing with numerous positive Covid-19 tests.
The league announced on Tuesday plans to postpone Wednesday’s Group A match between Nashville and Chicago. The league is also moving Toronto vs. DC from July 10th to July 12th due to a delay in Toronto arriving in Orlando.
MLS announced that five Nashville players have had confirmed positive tests for Covid-19 and four players with inconclusive results since arriving in the Orlando bubble on July 3rd. Additionally, ten Dallas players and “one player from a third club” also had confirmed positive tests. The league is awaiting test results for the five clubs that arrived on July 6th.
The league is evaluating Nashville’s participation in the MLS Is Back Tournament based on the results of additional testing.
