Big news for the Illinois Fighting Illini, as star guard Ayo Dosumnu has decided not to enter the NBA Draft, and will return to Champaign for the 2020-21 season.

It’s a big boost to head coach Brad Underwood and his team, who retains a point guard that can contribute both as a scorer and distributor.

In an injury-riddled 2019-20, Dosumnu averaged 15.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists in just 18 games due to injury. In his last game before the season was suspended due to Covid-19, he put up 18 points, eight assists and seven rebounds in a 78-76 win over #18 Illinois in a Big Ten game.

I-L-L also adds the 17th best recruiting class in college basketball for next season, which includes Illinois Mr. Basketball Adam Miller. Things are looking up in the State Farm Center, and it looks like yet another team will be ready to compete in what was the most competitive conference in college basketball last season.
