Brooks Koepka has run out to a big lead early at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis at TPC Southwind. But who the players that can close the gap and help carry you to the DFS dollars in the FedEx St. Jude Round 2?
Keep in mind thunderstorms are expected in Memphis tomorrow, and will be falling as soon as 10 a.m. according to the current forecast. The tee times are available here, with updates as the round has been moved much earlier by tournament organizers.
We make some picks for Round 3 below. Enter your lineups here.
Brooks Koepka ($8,800)
I guess we found the tournament where Koepka intends to break out his changed game. The four-time major winner has been scrambling on regular tour events, but when he wants to be is still the best golfer in the world. And since his DFS price was set even before the end of the round, he’s an absolute bargain here.
Oh yeah, he won this event last year too.
Justin Thomas ($10,600)
Finished 12th here last year, and is the Round 2 scoring leader on tour this year. His ball striking could at an advantage on a wet course, and he makes the third-most birdies per round of the field. Could be someone to get after his fellow South Florida resident at the top of the leaderboard tomorrow.
Mackenzie Hughes ($6.400)
Opened here with a -2 68, but has a chance to go low tomorrow. Was one of the worst regular players on tour before the Covid-19 break, but has made the cut in his last four with a T3, T48, and a T6 in his last three outings. He went 66-75 last year at this event, but seems to have rounded his game into shape. The first player in history to win on the PGA Tour Canada, Korn Ferry Tour and the PGA Tour has the game to get low on a Par 70 layout. You need to save salary somewhere, and he might be the place to do it.
